The front panel folds down to provide access to the paper path in case of a jam, though we see nothing during the test.

The control panel is simple, with a circle of navigation buttons and the other four work through a two-line menu, which appears on the backlit LCD screen. This is an alphanumeric view, but with special characters, as required to display the estimated toner level. Incredibly, the toner cartridge itself is lying behind a hinged door on the right side of the printer, which is faster and simpler than most laser printers. At the back, there are 10/100 USB and Ethernet sockets, although wireless connections are only available through optional adapters.
