Xerox Version 3100 is a 100ppm (A4) digital toner dry production printer and the latest addition to the Versant family. It fits between screens, 80ppm with lower volume of 180,000 (simultaneously launched) and 100ppm Color800i / 1000i-powered 100ppm color hardeners in the Xerox range. 3100 replaces the previous 10,000 ppm model and offers greater time-saving flexibility and automation to help run more short-term jobs per shift. Xerox emphasizes the ability and choice of long-range straight-line options.

Kamoshida said: "This technology is designed for high performance, high reliability, and high image quality - from page to page, job to job, year by year.This is CMYK digital media with maximum SRA3-plus size (330.2x488mm) although the built-in XLS setting allows it to carry sheets up to 660mm via a Multi-Sheet Inserter tray.The main features include the Automated Color Quality System (ACQS), which handles color management: Full Width Array, built-in color scanners that work with ACQS to correct color variations and density and print image misalignment, Ultra HD resolution, a combination of 2,400dpi resolution, imaging pathway and VCSEL ROS laser technology; EA Toner, Xerox particle chemical-grown particle technology and compact belt fuser.

Flat axle bearings help prevent distortion and help with handling envelopes. Cooling after the fuser helps prevent stacked sheets from sticking together. Versant 3100 can print images at 1,200 dpi with 10 bits per pixel than the usual 8. The result is a finer tonal gradation in accordance with Xerox. Color patches and registration marks are printed on the image carrier between each impression, allowing continuous measurements and adjustments. As a standard, there are three 550 sheet internal paper trays, 250 sheet feeders (for pre-printed covers and the like) and a 4,000-capacity High Capacity Filler. The optional Optional High-Level Feeder provides two more 2,000 trays.

There are three digital front-end options. The EX-P 3100 'Print Server Supported by Fiery' (developed by EFI) includes a powerful HyperRip, intended for complex graphics and variable data. EX 3100 'Print Server Powered by Fiery' is similar but without HyperRip. Her own Xerox FreeFlow print server is offered for transactional work using AFP / IPDS data. 3100 can print A4 simplex up to 100ppm, or SRA3 duplex at 25ppm.
