Xerox promises a print speed of up to 30 pages per minute - and on a plain text page, it manages to close to 27.7 ppm (although only 7 ppm on the graphics page.) As is common in monochrome lasers, it produces exceptional and unusual text quality - graphics quality, with a limited grey range and multiple horizontal bands through darker portions of the image.

Although the absence of word labels makes this item unpredictable (especially related to blinking lights), a Web-based status monitor of the printer goes beyond compensating by offering a lot of information on the screen. Unfortunately, Phaser 3250/DN is loaded with one of the worst paper tray designs we've ever seen. Despite having some metal bars, the 250 sheets main tray still has plenty of bending. You can extend it to fit the legal paper size, but to do so you need to find the hidden tabs at the bottom of the tray. Horizontal guides are even worse: They move easily, but we have to use tremendous amounts of power to move them out, even with depressed release levers. If you regularly print media in various sizes, you would be much better off using a single sheet feeder.

Although there is an unpleasant paper tray, Xerox Phaser 3250/DN offers an impressive value for its price. The speed and print quality are good enough for most home users, and the included auto duplexer helps make the workplace greener.
